Davao del Sur: Kublai's Art Garden

Blessed. Grateful. Those were the words I uttered while I sat under the trellis beside the glass house in Kublai's Art Garden. Having the chance to visit this place for the second time is indeed a blessing.
In 2007, Kublai's Agong House was still a work in progress. Back then, I was blessed to be mentored by Kublai's dad, Coach Rey, for we were like athletes listening and learning from the Rainmaker. I have come a long way, no longer employed, working 24/7. And that boldness comes from Coach Rey.
Sorry that I get to reminisce, instead of sharing more about Kublai's Art Garden. The garden showcase the talent of Kublai, and through his art, I felt the serenity that I have within me. That it takes, an artist, through his sculpture, to trigger, the capacity to have serenity and peace.
I cannot speak for others, but I am sharing the my experience, as I walked through the garden. In the heart of Kapatagan, there I found........PEACE.
Kublai's Art Garden is located in Brgy. Kapatagan, Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur.

Samal Island: Aznebo Grill and Restaurant

Sharing our Aznebo Grill and Restaurant dinner is something I get most excited about our Samal Island adventure. First, we found this place upon the recommendation of Manong from Monfort bat sanctuary. And secondly, it is a homegrown restuarant, that I find to be a must when visiting a place.
When we got to Aznebo Grill, we were the only group eating out that night. Dinner that night; Seafood Bilao, Mixed Bilao, Crispy Pata and Seafood Pansit.
The food taste good like a home cooked meal and very filling. And the servings were big enough for a group of "gutom adventurers."
Aznebo Grill and Restaurant is located at Villarica St, Babak District, Samal Island.

Samal Island: Monfort Bat Sancturay

Back to my wanders. From Maxima Aqua Fun we decided to squeezed in a visit to the BATS of Samal. And we were right on time for the bats to fly for the night. Entrance fee at Monfort Bat Sanctuary varies depending on the time of your visit, a night viewing is a bit higher than a day visit, but that's why we are here, to witness the bats' Circadian flight.
Monfort Bat Sanctuary is a Guiness World Record holder, as the biggest single colony of its kind, the Geoffrey Rousette Fruit Bat. During our visit we are the only group they had for the night. We get to talked with Manong, who guided us around. According to Manong, the caves were created during the Japanese occupation, they were remnants of bombs dropped in the island.
A visit to the bat sactuary opened my eyes to the positive effects have in the environment. It was getting dark when we arrived, we made a quick tour to all four caves, there is even a cave for nursing bats or a maternity ward. A piece of advise, be ready for the strong smell of amonia from the bat's poop.

Monfort Bat Sanctuary is located at Circumferential Road, Babak District, Samal Island.

An Afternoon of Tilapia Fishing at Benito's Farm

I have written about VEFAR about 3 years ago and now I am back and much have changed. Benito's Farm is a passion project of Mr. Hermie Claudio, a nurse by profession and a passionate tilapia farmer. Yes, I have been using passion and passionate a lot with him, but that is how the owner is as I continue to talk with him.
The newest addition to the farm is their own feeds making facility, they make their own feeds for the tilapia. During our recent visit, they are developing the "tuburan" or fresh flowing spring water within the property. And I can say that its really COLD in there. I tried dipping my feet and it gave me some relief.
Benito's Farm is located in Sitio Tucalabong, Brgy. Crossing Rubber, Tupi, South Cotabato. You can contact Mr. Hermie Claudio before visiting the place for them to be able to prepare at 0998-579-5029.
